LeRoy B. Tangeman

Seneca, KS

LeRoy B Tangeman, 76, of Seneca, died Wednesday morning, January 11, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

LeRoy was born on June 3, 1940 to Frank and Agnes Wessel Tangeman, in Axtell, Kansas. LeRoy attended St. Mary’s School in St. Benedict, Kansas.

As a young man, LeRoy helped on the family farm, until he was old enough to join the Kansas National Guard. While serving his country, he continued to farm the family farm, with his brothers, Cyril, Emmett, and Francis. He enjoyed farming with his brothers, until 1978 when his sons were old enough to start Tangeman Farms. In 1965 LeRoy started to sell for Asgrow Seed Company. LeRoy enjoyed bowling, hunting, and farming with his sons. LeRoy farmed until he physically could no longer, his health declined and in 2012 he went to live at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

On September 11, 1965 LeRoy married Sharon K. Caffrey at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lillis. When they got married they made their home northeast of Seneca, where Sharon has remained.

LeRoy was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St Benedict, St. Joseph Society and the Seneca Knights of Columbus Council 1769. He also served on St. Mary’s Parish Council and on the advisory board to the Asgrow Seed Company.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his son, Kevin on March 2, 1977; parents, Frank on May 11, 1988 and Agnes on November 7, 1974; three brothers, Cletus Tangeman on January 10, 1977, Francis Tangeman on October 27, 1987, and Cyril Tangeman on August 11, 2016; and a sister, Alice Wehner on January 16, 2015.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon, five sons and three daughters, Patrick (Rita) Tangeman of Bern, Brian Tangeman of Seneca, Marlene Sims of San Antonio, Texas, Debbie (Matthew) Tangeman of Seneca, Michelle (Ain) Garcia of Hutchison, Rodney (Melissa) Tangeman of Bern, Cliff (Debi) Tangeman of Omaha, Nebraska, Travis Tangeman of Seneca; one brother and three sisters, Emmett (Mary Jo) Tangeman of Falls City, Nebraska, Esther McMahon of Beattie, Rita (Charles) Broxterman of Frankfort, and Eileen (Don) Lake of Topeka; six grandsons; five granddaughters; one great-grandson; and two great-granddaughters

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 14, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed on Friday at 2 & 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be left in LeRoy’s memory to St Mary’s Catholic Church.
