Gary B. Love

Seneca, KS

01/25/1965 - 04/23/2016

Gary Bernard Love, 51, departed this life on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, following a motorcycle accident.

Gary was born on January 25, 1965, in Seneca, to Harold Joseph and Edna Mae Osterhaus Love. Gary attended Seneca Public Grade School and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1983.

Gary married his high school sweetheart, Eileen J. Henry, on April 26, 1986 at St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore.

He started Gary Love Construction after his father and uncle retired from Love and Osterhaus construction in 1987. His business blossomed into a very successful trade, due to the pride he had for his work and his need for perfection.

He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, St. Joseph’s Society, and the Knights of Columbus Council 1769, joining in 1993. Gary was currently the Road Captain of the American Legion Post 21 Legion Riders. Gary enjoyed life and being outside and he treasured his family. Gary and Jim Lohmann purchased the Lion’s Club Cabin at the Nemaha County Lake; and Gary spent countless hours remodeling and refurbishing the structure into a cabin for family gatherings and parties. Gary enjoyed staying busy and when time allowed, he loved to ride his Road King.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold “Joe” Love on October 20, 2009 and Edna “Eddy” Love on November 22, 2013; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Henry on December 5, 2000.

He is survived by his wife Eileen of 30 years, three sons, Jeremy (Julie) Love of Wichita, Derek (fiancée Melissa Nordhus) Love of Seneca and Michael Love of Seneca; a daughter Stephanie (Patrick) Schulte of Columbia, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Eli Love and Presley Love both of Wichita and Harper Schulte of Columbia, South Carolina; his brother, William (Sara) Love of Seneca; two sisters, Jill (Mark) Boyce of Valley Falls, Kansas and Janet (Michael) Bradley of Leawood, Kansas; his father-in-law, Francis Henry; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11AM at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Seneca. A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 2 & 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
