Bernadine C. Sedlacek, 83, of Seneca, Kansas, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

Bernadine was born on August 21, 1928 on a farm north of Seneca, the daughter of Jacob J. and Wilhelmena C. Rottinghaus Rennenger. She attended from St. Mary’s Grade School in St. Benedict and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1947.

On December 31, 1951 she married Clarence Stallbaumer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1960. Bernadine married Louis Sedlacek on August 7, 1963 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca.

After her marriage to Clarence they lived in Lincoln and she was employed at Russell Stover’s candy factory. When Clarence died, she moved back to Seneca and worked at Harsh Drug Store. She married Louis and moved to Bremen, Kansas where they bought a farm and she was a stay-home mom. While Louis was in the service during the Vietnam War she worked for several years for the school lunch program. The couple retired and moved to Seneca in November of 2000.

Bernadine loved to garden, cook, play cards and crochet; she belonged to three different card clubs.

Besides her first husband Clarence, she was preceded in death by a son, Brian Sedlacek on August 14, 1983; a daughter in 1954; her sister Elizabeth; and her brother Wilfred.

She is survived by her husband Louie of the home; a son, Anthony Sedlacek of Topeka; and sisters, Aurelia Heinen, Rosie Niehues, Mary Niehues and Alice Sedlacek, all of Seneca

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Sunday, July 1, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Monday, July 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 PM at St. John’s Cemetery in Hanover, Kansas.
