Aurelia M. Heinen, 88, of Kelly died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Aurelia was born, a twin, on July 17, 1925 on a farm north of Seneca the daughter of Jacob J. and Wilhelmena C. Rottinghaus Rennenger. Aurelia and her twin, Mary, were always very close. She attended from St. Mary’s Grade School in St. Benedict and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1943. She was employed by the chicken factory in Goff until 1945.

On January 30, 1945, she married Raymond C. Heinen at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. Aurelia was a dedicated farmers’ wife; and the couple made their home east of Kelly, where they raised their family and farmed. They were married 61 years when Raymond passed away on June 15, 2006.

She was a member of St. Bede’s Church in Kelly, the Altar Society as a past-president, a past CCD teacher, and was instrumental in organizing the annual Kelly Soup Supper. Aurelia was very devoted to praying the Rosary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking and baking and reading. She belonged to several card groups.

Besides her husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by; a son, Joseph on June 2, 1952; sisters, Bernadine Sedlacek and Elizabeth; and a brother, Wilfred.

Survivors are her; four sons, Richard (Katie) Heinen of Wetmore, Gene Heinen of Seneca, Wayne (Linda) Heinen of Goff and Elwyn (Mary) Heinen of Hughson, California; two daughters, Shirley (Don) Schurman of Seneca and Marilyn (Randy) Tiegreen of Overland Park; sisters, Rosie Niehues, Mary Niehues and Alice Sedlacek all of Seneca; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Rosaries will be prayed at Lauer Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 2 and 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bede’s on April 16, 2014 at 10 AM. Burial will be at St. Bede’s Cemetery in Kelly.
