Wilhelmina C. "Minnie" Haug

Wilhelmina C. “Minnie” Haug, 82, of Seneca, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 18, 1984, shortly after arrival at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, due to an apparent heart attack.

She was born June 16, 1902 southwest of St. Benedict to George J. and Elizabeth Engelken Stallbaumer. She attended country school and later St. Benedict School in St. Benedict.

She married George H. Haug on January 5, 1931 at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. She and George lived in various places around Kansas while George worked as a bricklayer. George died suddenly at the age of 39 on October 9, 1940 leaving Minnie and their four-year-old son Maurice. They had just bought a house in Seneca.

After her husband’s early death, Minnie and her son Maurice returned to St. Benedict where Minnie took care of her parents and kept house for her brothers Alfred and Ted.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and visiting with friends and family.

Survivors include her son Maurice of Seneca; four brothers, Alfred Stallbaumer of rural Seneca, and Cyril, Ray and Emmett Stallbaumer, all of Seneca; two sisters, Leona Nolte of Atchison and Rita Broxterman of Baileyville.

Besides her husband George, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert on October 13, 1978, and Adrian “Ted” on February 11, 1984; and a sister, Cora Hammes on July 15, 1975.

Rosaries were prayed on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, September 19 & 20, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Friday, September 21, at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given for the St. Mary’s Church Organ Restoration Fund, and sent in care of the family.
