Virginia D. Winkler

Virginia M. (Dalinghaus) Winkler, 83, of Centralia, Kansas passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at Life Care Center in Seneca.

Virginia was born December 13th, 1932 on a farm south of Baileyville, Kansas, to Lawrence A. and Margaret (Sudbeck) Dalinghaus. She graduated from Baileyville High School in 1950. After graduation she worked at the Sabetha Dime Store and at the Citizen State Bank in Seneca.

Virginia married Gerald B. Winkler on November 10, 1954 at the Sacred Heart church in Baileyville. They lived on their dairy farm east of Centralia for the past 61 years, where she assisted Jerry with the milking and farm work. Virginia also sold World Book Encyclopedias, winning many sales awards and distinctions. She later worked for KMZA Radio as an Account Representative and at Crestview Manor as the Marketing Director, wearing many hats in this job, retiring in 2008. Virginia greatly enjoyed her Irish heritage and looked forward to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with the Sudbeck clan every year.

She was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church, Kelly, in her early married life, and later St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning.

Mom will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, she never knew a stranger and was friendly to all. She was a tireless worker and offered much time and energy in support of her husband, 3 children, and 5 grandchildren. Virginia had many interest in life. She enjoyed tending to her roses, cooking, baking pies, and pursuing her love of antique furniture. She approached all the activities in her life with the utmost enthusiasm.

Virginia and Jerry celebrated 62 years together on November 10, 2016. Left to cherish Virginia’s memories are her husband, Gerald of Centralia, daughter; Carol and (Randall) Tlachac, Plymouth, MN, son; Alan and (Vicki) Winkler, Woodland Park, Colorado, son; Brian and (Paula) Winkler, Marysville, Kansas. Grandchildren include Stephen Tlachac, Minneapolis, MN, Erin Tlachac, Savage, MN, Jacob and (Shannon) Winkler, Liberty, MO, Alex Winkler, Lawrence, Kansas, and Grace Winkler, Marysville, Kansas. She is survived by a brother, Bill (Bobby) Dalinghaus of Seneca and two sister-in-laws, Pat Dalinghaus and Rosalee Stimac.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Don Dalinghaus on August 7, 2011 and Roy Dalinghaus on December 28, 2002. Virginia’s bright and beautiful smile and caring attitude will be missed by all.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning by Father Mariadas Sesetti. Burial will be in the St. Bede’s Cemetery in Kelly. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Wednesday, November 30th at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given in Virginia’s memory to St. Patrick’s Building Fund and/or St. Bede’s Building Fund, sent in care of the family.
