Rosalia B. "Sally" Deters

Corning, KS

Rosalia B. “Sally” Deters, 62, Corning, died Saturday, August 8, 1992, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born Dec. 29, 1929, southeast of Kelly, the daughter of Henry and Josephine Sextro Boeckman. She attended St. Bede’s Catholic School in Kelly and lived Southeast of Baileyville and later southeast of Corning.

She moved into Corning in 1987. Mrs. Deters was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society at the church, the auxiliary to Arthur A. Mills Post No. 37 of the American Legion and the Friendship Circle Club, all in Corning.

She was married to Lester Deters Feb. 16, 1949, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly.

He survives. Three daughters, Lisa Marie Deters, Mary Louise Deters and Sheri Mary Deters, died in infancy. Other survivors include five sons, Galen Deters and Ronald Deters, both of Goff, Daniel Deters and Eric Deters, both of Corning, and Bruce Deters, Marysville; three daughters, Marlene Griffith, Bern, Debbie Manuel, Rossville, and Marcia Kramer, Seneca; a brother, Lawrence Boeckman, Goff; five sisters, Augusta Hutfles, Corning, Frances Wichman, Seneca, Dorothy Henry, Wetmore, and Mary Ann Schmitz and Arlene Schmitz, both of Baileyville and nine grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Corning.

A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning or the American Diabetes Association.
