Roberta J. Lueb, 74, of Atchison, KS, formerly of Seneca, KS, died Wednesday evening, February 25, 2004, at the Benedictine Sister’s Dooley Center in Atchison, KS.

She was born in Seneca on January 4, 1930, the oldest daughter of Paul and Helen Wilson Lueb. Her mother died when she was 10 years old, and Roberta took on the responsibility of assisting in the care of her younger siblings until they went to live with their aunt, Anna M. Lueb, who was like a mother to them. She graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School in Seneca in 1947, and then worked for Security Benefit Association in Topeka, before returning to Seneca to care for the aunt who raised her. She was employed for over 40 years at Paramount Cleaners in Seneca. She also did sewing and alterations for many people. She loved to sew and make clothing, especially for her nieces and nephews.

She moved to the Dooley Center in June 2002 due to poor health. Roberta was a caring and generous person, who endeared herself to the staff and other residents of the center.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, the prayer group, and the LCBA, all in Seneca. She also served as a Eucharistic minister, on the parish council at the church, and as an officer for the Sts. Peter & Paul High School Alumni Association. Other memberships include the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the VFW Auxiliary and the Harmony Homemakers HDU.

Survivors are two sisters, Alice Cameron and husband Alan of Topeka and Sr. Mary Frederick Lueb, O.S.B., of Atchison; five nephews, Michael, Timothy and wife Sandy, Kirby and wife Tammy, and David Cameron, all of Topeka, and Kevin and wife Amanda, of Rockwell, TX; two nieces, Patti Cameron Hall, and Libby Cameron Hermanson and husband Jimmy of Topeka; five great-nephews; and three great-nieces.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James F. Lueb and a niece, Anne Cameron Bartron.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 AM Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Friday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 PM Friday, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Family will meet with friends from 4 to 6 PM Friday at the funeral home.
