Robert J. "Bob" Hasenkamp

Robert J. “Bob” Hasenkamp, 59, of Soldier, KS, died November 27, 2010, at Eastridge care home in Centralia, following an extended illness.

Bob was born at home in Soldier, KS on January 26, 1951 to Alfred B. and Margaret H. Rettele Hasenkamp.

Bob attended grade school at Bancroft. When it closed, he finished at Corning Grade School and High School. Taking over the family farm when his Dad became ill, Bob farmed in the Soldier and Corning communities all his life.

He married Marceil Steinlage on October 29, 1983 at St. Patrick’s Church.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the St. Joseph’s Society in Corning. Bob served as Treasurer of the Reilly Township. He liked to hunt, fish and tell stories.

Survivors are Marceil, his wife of 27 years, of the home; four sons; Anthony Hasenkamp of Corydon, IA, Nicholas Hasenkamp of Kansas City, MO, Benjamin Hasenkamp of Soldier, and Joshua Hasenkamp of the home; three daughters; Margaret Hasenkamp of Soldier, Rebecca and Elizabeth Hasenkamp of the home; and two sisters, Noreen Steinlage and Jane Henry, both of Seneca.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilee Jerome and Grace Area.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Wednesday, December 1, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 & 7 PM Tuesday, November 30, at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning.
