Mary "Lucille" Sextro

Mary “Lucille” Sextro, 91, of Kansas City, Kansas, died on Friday, December 21, 2012, at Life Care Center of Seneca.

Lucille, who also sometimes went by Mary, was born August 19, 1921, to Joseph and Minnie Robertson Winkler in Baileyville, Kansas. She attended school in Seneca through 8th grade, and moved to the Kansas City area in 1943. On February 15, 1944, she was married to Charles C. Sextro in Seneca. This union produced three children, James, Judith (Lowe), and Joseph, who died at birth. Lucille and Charles were married for 47 years when Charles died on March 20, 1991.

Lucille was an interline office clerk for the Kansas City branch of Chief Freight Line for 20 years, retiring in 1974.

She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Kansas
City, Kansas, volunteering her loving service to parish members and their spouses who were in need of hospice care.

In her spare time she enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, and traveling. She was also a member of the Shamrock and Chippee Clubs, before returning to Seneca in 2010 to reside at Life Care Center.

She is survived by her son-in-law Paul Lowe and two grandchildren, Tony and Nick Lowe of Kernersville, West Virginia; and two great-granddaughters, Sophie and Madison Lowe.

Besides her husband Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son James and an infant son Joseph; a daughter Judith Lowe; and a brother Paul Winkler.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:15 AM Friday, December 28, followed by Mass of Christain Burial at 10 AM, both at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Seneca. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, 126th and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be given in Lucille’s memory to the family for St. Patrick Catholic Church of Kansas City, Kansas.
