Marilyn J. Miller Durland, 68, of Centralia, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born in Vermillion, Kansas on January 13, 1945 to John and Jean Law Holland. She attended school in Vermillion and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1963. She received her BS in Accounting from Kansas State Teachers College (now known as Emporia State University).

Marilyn married Richard D. Miller on September 3, 1967 in the Christian Church of Vermillion. The couple celebrated 35 years of marriage before Richard’s death on February 28, 2003. Marilyn worked part time for Kennedy and Coe Accounting Firm during tax season; the remainder of the year was dedicated to her family and children.

She married Richard Durland on December 27, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Marysville. The couple enjoyed traveling to Arizona during the winter months.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, spoiling her grandchildren and Facebook. She was an Elder of the First Christian Church of Marysville.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Durland of Centralia; her children, Tim (Melissa) Miller of Clive, Iowa, Kim (Ron) Hardin of Blue Rapids, Kansas, Jennifer (Mike) Coufal of Hanover and Matt (Maggie) Miller of Eudora, Kansas; step-children, Stacy Durland of Eskridge, Kansas, Wayne Durland of Centralia and Brenda Durland of Tecumseh, Georgia; a step-daughter-in-law, Kim Durland; grandchildren, Ryan and Josh Miller, Alexander and Samantha Hardin, Gray and Eleanor Coufal and Braydee Miller; step-grandchildren, Jalessa, Jonathan, Dyna, Caleb, Kendall and Cole Durland; and siblings, JB Holland of Centralia, Kay Hulsing of Seneca and Sue Dick of Axtell.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a step-son, Craig Durland.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 PM Friday, July 5, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday, July 6, at the First Christian Church in Marysville. Family will meet with friends at the church from 9 to 10 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in the Vermillion City Cemetery.
