Margaret A. Haverkamp

Seneca, KS

Margaret A. Haverkamp, 85, of Seneca, KS, formerly of Kelly, died early Sunday morning, January 9, 2011 at her home.

She was born on December 21, 1925, on a farm north of Baileyville, KS, the daughter of Bernard and Fredericka Knipper Kreutzman. She attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville. Margaret helped her parents on the farm.

On May 14, 1952 she married Joseph Haverkamp. With Joe she farmed and helped run their dairy operation near Kelly. She also cared for Joe’s parents in her home. Joe preceded her in death on June 18, 1991.

She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and visiting with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly, and taught CCD there.

Survivors are her children, Karen (Richard) Hynek of Seneca, Joseph (Ronda) Haverkamp of Silver Lake and Loren (Shelly) Haverkamp of Holton; her sister Cecelia Holle of Marysville; a sister-in-law Alma Holthaus of Centralia; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Dylan M. Hynek on March 18, 2005; and by five brothers, Ben, John, Frank, Albert and Joe Kreutzman; and three sisters, Sr. Mary Verona Kreutzman, Agnes Kopp and Alma Kreutzman.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Monday, January 10, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Tuesday, January 11, at St. Bede’s Church in Kelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given in Margaret’s memory for St. Bede’s Church, or Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, and sent in care of the family.
