Kristin Joy Wright, a native San Diego, California and resident of Sabetha, Kansas for 11 years, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 after battling cancer. It would be wrong to say that Kristin lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined.

Kristin married Stephen Wright on July 7, 2007; the couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary this year.

Kristin was a dedicated mother first and foremost, but was also a devoted wife, sister and friend. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and lit up the room with her presence. She loved reading autobiographies, watching crime shows, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her father, Gary Cooper; her grandparents, Elijah and Edna Wingo and Elmer and Ruby Cooper; and her uncle, E. Oatha Wingo.

Kristin is survived by her husband, Stephen; her mother, Joy (Wingo) Cooper; her children, Gary Hunt, Madison (Brandon) Fanders and Heidi Carley; sisters, Lisa deBerardinis and Kimberly Stead; nieces and nephew, Taylor and Dylan Stead, Amanda and Andrew DeBerardinis; and ten grandchildren, Kemper, Lucian, Aidan, Braydyn, Alianna, Thomas, Samuel, Airiana, Sierra, and Zoe.

She is also survived by cousins, Lynn (Wingo) Koerber, Vincent Wingo, Vanessa Cuellar, among others and her uncle, Cecil Wingo.

While Kristin’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Kristin in a way that honors her spirit and they invite you to join them for a service at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 3PM.

Memorials will be designated by the family at a later date.

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Kristin Wright on Sept. 1st, 2022! She was an energetic, vivacious, humorous, thoughtful human being! She loved her flowers and always wanted to make things look pretty, especially on her front porch & her flower beds! And besides loving all of her family & keeping in touch with them; no matter how far away they lived; she loved animals, especially her cat, Miss Kitty & her pet bird!

I remember playing Pickleball with her & her friends before Covid hit at the Wellness Center in Sabetha! It was always fun! We laughed a lot! We tried to coaxed her husband, Steve, to join us in a game but he was into working on the exercise equipment!

And going to the concerts at the Sac & Fox Casino to see an Elvis Presley impersonator with Kristin; Kristin’s mother, Joy; Debra, a friend of mine from Belton, Missouri, & I! We all had a good time! Special memories!

    Kristin will be thoroughly missed!

Thank you Phyllis for this very true and great description of Kristin. She did indeed love her flowers and Miss kitty and Sunny her conure parrot.
Thank you and Debra for the beautiful peace lily plant. Your and Debra’s presence at her celebration of life was much appreciated. Thank you for being her friend.

Thank you Sadie. My friend. We always had a great time visiting in my home town in Booneville, Mississippi. She always enjoyed everyone she met and left a great impression on all who knew her. Thanks for your kind words.
