Genevieve E. “Jenny” Ronnebaum, 80, Seneca, KS, traveled to the Big Casino in the sky on September 7, 2006. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

She was born September 23, 1925, on a farm west of St. Benedict, the daughter of Albert “Bud” and Josephine Haverkamp Skoch. Jenny grew up in the St. Benedict and Seneca communities, and attended Sts. Peter & Paul Schools in Seneca. In 1941, she moved to Des Moines, IA, and worked at the Sunkist Cracker Factory with her sister Lucille. She returned to Seneca in 1947 where she was employed as a waitress at the Log Cabin Café on Highway 36 at the east edge of town.

On September 10, 1947, she married Quintin A. “Rupp” Ronnebaum at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1997. For many years she was a busy homemaker, raising her family and taking part in school and community activities. Starting in 1966 she worked for a year in the dietary department at the Seneca Hospital.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, where she sang in the choir for many years, St. Ann’s Altar Society, the Earle W. Taylor Post #21 of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the VFW Auxiliary, the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild, and the Seneca Golf Club, of which she was a former vice-president, all in Seneca. Jenny was an active volunteer with NEKAP, Meals on Wheels, and numerous other community organizations and events. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and bridge. For 20 years she attended national bowling tournaments with her friends. As a friendly person, she was well known at Harsh’s Drug Store during coffee time.

Survivors are her husband, Quintin “Rupp”, of the home; a son, Russell Ronnebaum (Bernice) of Wichita; three daughters, Vicki Ronnebaum (Mark) of Overland Park, Janet Kohake (Joe) of Visalia, CA, Kris Enneking (Damian) of Rossville; two brothers, Kenneth Skoch of Riverview, AL, and Leroy Skoch of Independence, MO; a sister, Mary Jo Runyan of Blue Springs, MO; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Huerter on September 30, 2003; four brothers, John Robert, Eugene, Albert, Jr., and Gerald Skoch; and two sisters, Norma Jean Skoch, and Lucille Bedwell.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Monday, September 11, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Sunday, September 10, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul Church or School, and sent in care of the family.
