Frances R. Heiman

Baileyville, Kansas

Frances R. Heiman, 93, of Baileyville, Kansas, died Monday, January 3, 2005, at Life Care Center in Seneca, where she had been a resident since February of 2001.

She was born November 15, 1911, on a farm a mile south of Seneca, the second youngest of nine children of Herman and Catharine Guenther Mueting. Frances attended Sts. Peter & Paul School and helped on the family farm.

On November 7, 1933, she married Leo J. Heiman at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived on their farm 3-1/2 miles north of Baileyville following their marriage. Her husband Leo died January 4, 1958, and Frances continued to farm with her children. In 1970 she moved into Baileyville.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar Society at the church and the Benedictine Oblates, all in Baileyville. Frances was always a loving mother and a kind person who did a lot of volunteer work. She enjoyed playing cards and was an astute player.

Survivors are two sons, Gene and Gilbert Heiman, both of Baileyville; six daughters, Virginia Koelzer of Baileyville, Betty Lane of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Edna Fangman of Topeka, Geraldine Beres of Clifton, Virginia, Thelma Bowhay of Netawaka, and Donna Broxterman of Harleysville, Pennsylvania; 27 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Koelzer, on March 16, 1975; two sisters, Anna Heiman and Marie Moynagh; and six brothers, Frank, Herman, Jr., John, Fred, Leo, and Lawrence Mueting.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Thursday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for Sacred Heart Cemetery or Sts. Peter & Paul School, and sent in care of the family.
