Donald B. Lackey

Seneca, Kansas

Donald B. Lackey, 68, of Seneca, Kansas, died late Sunday night, September 4, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

Don was born on March 21, 1943, on the family farm north of Baileyville to Cletus and Anna Schroeder Lackey. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul High School and graduated with the class of 1961. In the summer of 1961, he moved to Atlanta, GA and worked for Atlantic Munford Company.

In October of 1967, he was in a terrible automobile accident that left him in a coma. He started rehabilitation in Georgia, but he returned to Seneca to finish recovery. He sold Shaklee products and maintained an optimistic attitude about the physical limitations he had due to the accident. He was a determined individual. He enjoyed riding his motorized scooter around town, playing pool, bowling and visiting at local coffee shops. He moved to Crestview Manor care home in January of 2004.

He is survived by his siblings, Richard Lackey of Topeka, Galen Lackey of Seneca, Rosalee Chance of Olathe, Tom Lackey of Topeka, Stephen Lackey of Auburn, Larry Lackey of Seneca and Sharon Posner of Pensacola, FL.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Wednesday, September 7, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Tuesday, September 6, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for the Sts. Peter & Paul Building Fund, and sent in care of the family.
