Christopher L. Wempe

Seneca, Kansas

Christopher L. Wempe, 20, of Seneca, Kansas, died Monday, May 12, 2008 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, after an acute illness.

He was born March 9, 1988, in Seneca, the son of Daniel and JoAnn Dalsing Wempe. Christopher grew up in Seneca and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in May of 2006. He was a sophomore at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, studying chemical engineering.

During high school, he worked at Ray’s Apple Market in Seneca and while attending school in Lawrence he worked at Hy-Vee.

Christopher loved KU athletics, listening to music, and comedy movies. He had a huge circle of friends, and stayed connected with them online through his Facebook page. Family was also important to him; he spent a great deal of time with his nephew Caleb. He took great pleasure in visiting Colorado, relishing time in Colorado’s mountaintops and terrain. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca.

He will be missed by his parents; his brothers, Scott and wife Cathy of Topeka, Brian and wife Holly of Lochbuie, Colorado, and Jason of Manhattan, Kansas; his grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Dalsing; a special friend, Ariel Hecke; a nephew Caleb, aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Arthur and Katherine Wempe.

Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 AM Friday, May 16, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Thursday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given in Christopher’s memory for the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, and sent in care of the family.
