Benedict L. “Butch” Stallbaumer

Benedict L. “Butch” Stallbaumer, 61, of Holton, KS, formerly of Paola, KS, died Thursday, February 23, 2006, at a Holton care home.
He was born April 25, 1944, in Seneca, KS, the son of Suitbert and Elizabeth Hutfles Stallbaumer. He grew up on the family farm south of Corning and attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Corning High School in Corning. After graduation, he went to Charlotte, NC for a year where his brother James was living. He worked in a battery factory for a year before he moved to Paola, KS. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years in Alaska before his discharge on January 1, 1974. He worked at Washburn Chrysler-Plymouth and other auto businesses as a mechanic. He worked for a propane company for 10 years. In 1990 he was seriously injured in a car accident and required residential care.
On October 14, 1967, he married Linda Harclerode in Paola. They were later divorced.
He was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Holton.
Survivors are a son, Jeff Stallbaumer of Paola; six brothers, Ervan of Tulsa, OK, John of Hoyt, Lester of Holton, James of Cincinnati, OH, Michael of Paola, and Terry of Omaha; five sisters, Mary Ann Grollmes of Netawaka, Lucille Eisenbarth, Barbara “Bobbie” Osterhaus, Peggy Osterhaus, all of Seneca, and Janice Jenkins of Paola; and two grandsons.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel on November 1, 2003.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Tuesday, February 28, at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Monday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military honors.
Memorials may be given for the Jackson County nursing home, and sent in care of the family.
