Angela G. Roeder

Seneca, Kansas

Angela G. Roeder, 78, of Seneca, Kansas, died early Wednesday morning, February 2, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

Angela was born September 18, 1932, on a farm near Baileyville, the daughter of Clem and Clementine Fangman Koch. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and then Baileyville High School, and was the valedictorian of the 1950 class. After graduation, she worked a year at Winterscheidt Milling Company.

On October 13, 1951, she married Melvin Roeder at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Melvin survives of the home. Angela was employed by Big B Grocery Store in Seneca for over 20 years.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church in Seneca. Angela enjoyed playing cards, gardening, reading, quilting, sewing and singing in the church choir.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons, Duane Roeder of Seneca, Bill Roeder of Fort Collins, Colorado, Gary Roeder of Reno, Nevada, Jim Roeder of Seneca and Steve Roeder of La Jolla, California; two daughters, Carol Esser of Lenexa, Kansas and Jane Roeder of Overland Park, Kansas; three brothers, Mark Koch of Marysville, Joe Koch of Baileyville and Rock Koch of Seneca; two sisters, Evelyn Rothenberger of Overland Park and Rita Haug of Seneca; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy Roeder in 1952; three sisters, Teresa Spiker, Eileen Rusche and Mary Olberding; and a brother, Regis Koch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Saturday, February 5, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given in Angela’s memory for Sts. Peter & Paul School, Sts. Peter & Paul Church, or the American Cancer Society, and sent in care of the family.
