Alice S. Chamberlain

Alice S. Chamberlain, 96, of Seneca, KS, formerly of Kansas City, MO, died Sunday evening, July 13, 2008 at Life Care Center in Seneca.

She was born January 3, 1912 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Harry D. and Nellie B. Fleming Chamberlain. When she was about seven years old, the family moved to Lenape, KS, near DeSoto, where she attended school. In 1930, she graduated from DeSoto High School.

She graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1934 as a commercial artist. She worked for North American and TWA for about four years drawing parts for their aircraft part catalogues. Later she worked for Wilson Sporting Goods where she also did catalogue work and lettering on sports equipment. After her retirement in 1977, she lived in Marysville, KS with her sister, Ruth Nathan. In April of 2000, she moved to Kansas City North. Due to her health, she moved to Seneca in September 2001.

She attended the Presbyterian Church in Kansas City and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, locally Joan Roberts of Seneca.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Harry, Richard, Thomas and Robert Chamberlain and five sisters, Coleen Hartzeler, Eva Stone, Ruth Nathan, Charlotte Chamberlain and Harriret Chamberlain.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.

Memorials may be given for the Kansas City Art Institute or the American Cancer Society, and sent in care of the family.
