Margaret Irene (Newhart) Haug

SENECA, KS

12/04/1962 - 04/17/2025

Margaret Irene Newhart Haug, 62, of Seneca died on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, of complication of Ovarian Cancer, with her husband by her side.

Maggie was born on December 4, 1962, in Montrose, Pennsylvania, to John and Anita (Ervine) Newhart. She was raised in the close-knit community of Lawton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Elk Lake High School in 1980.

Following graduation, Maggie moved to Palm Springs, California, where she began working at Eisenhower Medical Center. She dedicated many years to her work there before relocating to Seneca, Kansas, in 2004.

On November 31, 2005, Maggie married the love of her life, Gerard “Jerry” Haug, in Seneca. She worked at the Big B until its closure, after which she was employed at Ray’s Apple Market. She remained there until 2020, when health issues related to cancer made it too difficult for her to continue working.

Maggie had a joyful spirit and a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed browsing garage sales, attending auctions, and hunting for treasures in thrift stores. She enjoyed collecting and selling books.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anita Newhart, and brothers, Daryl Newhart and Roger Newhart.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Jerry, of the home; a step-son, Jeremy (Mandi) Haug of Sabetha; a sister, Eileen (Robert) Brostoski of Belleville, Illinois; a brother, John (Allison) Newhart of LeRaysville, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Aalexxus and Preslei Haug; and a great granddaughter, Sawyer Mullin.

The family will visit with family and friends on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 6-7 P/M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 2 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
