Marcina R. Burdiek Haverkamp
Kelly, Kansas
10/16/1933 - 01/19/2026
Marcina Rose Haverkamp, 92, of Seneca, KS passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by loved ones.
Marcina was born on October 16th, 1933 to John and Clara (Tanking) Burdiek. Marcina grew up on a family farm west of Seneca. As a young girl, she preferred to be outdoors with the animals. After graduating from Baileyville High School, Marcina helped provide in-home care to new mothers and their babies. Still to this day, Marcina would light up when she held a baby.
Shortly after graduating, Marcina met the love of her life, Cletus Haverkamp, a dairy farmer from Kelly. Cletus and Marcina wed on August 4th, 1954 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. After they wed, the couple began a lifelong dairy farm operation by milking eight cows by hand. From there, the operation of milking Holstein cows grew. During this time, they somehow managed to raise six ornery children who would help continue on this legacy. Marcina also enjoyed raising dogs. Cletus and Marcina were able to celebrate 67 years of marriage.
Marcina took to milking cows and raising kids as her lifelong passion. For 48 years, she ran the milk barn with her family at her side. On her 90th birthday, Marcina stepped foot in her favorite milkbarn and could still put milkers on like she never retired.
Monday was laundry day. Friday was the day she went to town to get her hair done and run her errands. Saturday night was time spent with close friends and neighbors or visiting the casino to play black jack and the slots. Sundays were for church and family. Marcina loved to watch sports. She never missed an opportunity to watch the K-State Wildcats, Kansas City Chiefs, or the Royals. Marcina made an amazing coconut cream pie and could fry a chicken with the best. Her grandkids knew her for her famous banana cupcakes.
Marcina was a member of the St. Bede’s Altar’s Society. She took great pride in keeping up with all of her kids’, grandkids’, and great-grandkids’ birthdays, anniversaries, and special life events. She did so with the help of her faithful Coop calendar.
Marcina was preceded in death by her husband Cletus; parents; infant twins Cletus and Marcina; and siblings Walter and Gerald Burdiek and sister Mildred Reineke. Marcina is survived by her children Elaine (Ron) Osterhaus of Seneca, Donald (Kris) Haverkamp of Fairview, Jim (Carolyn) Haverkamp of Solomon, Dale (Stephanie) Haverkamp of Goff, Sandy
