Glenda L. Conley Wilhelm

Seneca, Kansas

08/26/1954 - 11/09/2023

Glenda Lynn Wilhelm, 69, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, in her home in Seneca with her husband, Dale, by her side.

Glenda was born August 26,1954 to Glen and Marilyn (Heideman) Conley in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the oldest of six children. The family moved to Seneca, Kansas in 1955. Glenda attended Sts. Peter & Paul High School, and her sophomore year she was swept off her feet by a freshman. Glenda graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School in 1972.

On February 9, 1974 Glenda married her high school sweetheart, Dale Wilhelm, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca. Dale and Glenda welcomed three boys, Brent in 1974, Glendon in 1977, and Kellen in 1982. She always provided love and support for her family. Glenda took great pride in her boys, which continued throughout her lifetime.

After high school, Glenda worked at Hallmark in Topeka. She returned to Seneca a year later and worked at the IGA Grocery Store. Once married, Glenda worked at the Log Cabin Cafe with her parents. Glenda also worked at Teddy Bear Daycare for several years and loved taking care of children. In 2001, Glenda took over the Log Cabin Cafe where she had amazing employees, including Loren Heideman and a constant crew of teenagers, working for her. She affectionately called the girls “Glenda’s Girls,” who she continued to care for and mentor past their employment. Glenda could connect with anyone in a matter of minutes, and make her diners feel welcomed like a guest in her home.

Glenda and Dale worked in harmony at the Log Cabin, with Glenda running the restaurant and Dale running the gas station. The love and admiration they had for one another could be seen daily by anyone who patroned their establishment. Glenda was also very organized and enjoyed clerking and running concessions for Dale’s auction business. Glenda and Dale’s love story was just shy of 50 years, and they were anxiously planning their golden wedding anniversary.

Glenda will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her family and friends. She loved sharing stories of her grandchildren with the patrons of the Log Cabin, and attended every ballgame and event she could get to. She looked forward to spending time with her granddaughters and would refer to their time together as “girls’ nights.” She enjoyed making pies for loved ones and hosted friends in her home regularly. She anxiously awaited the holidays, decorating and cooking, and making each one special. She was fun spirited and enjoyed traveling, eating out, having her nails done, and playing games on her iPad.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and St Ann’s Altar Society, both in Seneca. She was a past member of the Seneca Free Library Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen Conley on September 15, 1976 and Marilyn Enneking on February 24, 2004; and her sister, Glendenna Conley on May 18, 1958.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Dale of Seneca; sons Brent (Carol) of Seneca, Glendon (Sara) of Topeka, and Kellen of Eudora; siblings Glen (Jan) Conley, Jr of Topeka, Lyn (Eddie) Gonzales of Topeka, Glenette Conley of Seneca, and Glenise Wallace of Johnson City; grandchildren Peyton, Parker, Gavin, Kinley, Owen, Haddie, and Kendall; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M. November 14, 2023 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.

Memorials can be given in Glenda’s memory to Sts. Peter and Paul School, sent in care of the family.

The rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.

Dale and family, you know how much Glenda means to me and I’m heartbroken she’s gone. We shared some great memories since 6th grade. These recent years to reconnect and see more of each other and even zoom and phone calls have been the best. I see her every day on the cover of my memory book with her, Betsy, Janet and Connie coming to Hawaii to love and laugh in April and starting a new chapter in life. Gone but not forgotten. I love you dear friend🌺

I will miss our little chats when I left school. She would always wave from her porch as I pulled out of the parking lot. She raised three fine young men! She will definitely be missed by many!
    Much love,
