Glen Frederick Becker

Seneca, Kansas

11/23/1942 - 11/09/2023

Glen Frederick Becker, 80, of Seneca, Kansas died Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

He was born 11/23/1942, on the family farm east of Seneca, the son of Arthur and Marcedes Melcher Becker. Glen graduated from Saints Peter & Paul High School in 1960 and joined the Army and was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri. After his basic training he was released to the Kansas Army National Guard. He was discharged at the rank of PVT E-2 on February 13, 1961. After serving his country, he worked for Suther Building Supply in Seneca, Becker Built Homes in Topeka with his brother, Mike, and then worked maintenance for Terrace Heights and then shortly for Life Care Center both in Seneca where he retired.

He married Carol Gormley in Seneca, and they later divorced. On August 12, 1999, he married Irene Lambert-Vlasek.

He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the American Legion in Seneca. Glen always enjoyed family time, including boating out at the Sabetha Lake, hunting on the family farm, and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends always knew they could stop by and visit Glen in his garage any time of day for a cold one…or two.

Besides his wife, Irene, he is survived by two sons, Tom (Tricia) Becker of Kansas City, MO, Jim (Sandy) Becker of Topeka, stepdaughter Lisa (Stan) Tichenor of Topeka, stepson Greg (Aili) Vlasek, Wakefield, Kansas, sixteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings, David (Jeanette) Becker of Seneca, Max Becker of Meridian, Janice Houpt of Topeka and Mike (Maxine) Becker of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Thompson, his daughter, Diane Jarrett, and parents, Arthur and Marcedes Becker.

The rosary will be prayed at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Monday evening at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Tuesday morning at 11:00am. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given for Veterans Honor Flights or Nemaha Valley Community Hospital and sent in care of the family.

 

The rosary will be prayed at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Monday evening at 7:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Tuesday morning at 11:00am.

    Sorry I can’t come to services but Glen will always have a place in my heart. Irene and children be strong and you have to believe he is in a glorious place. It was wonderful to be able to take care of him. My sympathy and love to you all
