Lucille B. Eisenbarth

Seneca, KS

09/30/1933 - 04/09/2008

Lucille B. Eisenbarth, 74, of Seneca, KS, died Wednesday evening, April 9, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, where she was in intensive care with complications of pneumonia.

She was born on September 30, 1933 in Seneca, the daughter of Suitbert and Elizabeth Hutfles Stallbaumer. She lived on the family farm south of Corning, before the family moved into Corning. Lucille attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Corning High School, where she graduated in 1951.

On August 16, 1951, she married Lawrence “June” Eisenbarth Jr. at St. Patrick’s Church at Corning. The couple celebrated 53 years of marriage before June’s death in 2006.

They lived in Seneca and she worked for the Nemaha County Treasurer office for two years. She left work for a time to take care of her children at home, and then returned to the Treasurer office in 1954. She changed jobs to the Seneca SRS service in 1957, and continued doing full-time administrative work there until her retirement in 2000. As a person who like to remain active, she later returned to part-time work at the SRS office until she retired completely from there on July 15, 2003. She also worked for Bob’s Sirloin Room from 1978 until it closed in the summer of 2005, after which she shifted jobs to Lori’s Café, where she had worked until the present.

Lucille and her husband enjoyed travelling. She was a dedicated grandmother who enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She was a caregiver in every sense of the word, a caring and truly giving person.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church; Post #7458 of the VFW Auxiliary, and the Red Hatters club for women over 50, all in Seneca.

Survivors are a son, Tom Eisenbarth of Topeka; three daughters, Connie Shuler of Picayune, MS, Brenda Anderson of Topeka, and Roxann Holthaus of Seneca; five brothers, Ervan of Tulsa, OK, John of Hoyt, Lester of Holton, James of Cincinnati, OH, and Michael of Paola, KS; three sisters, Mary Ann Grollmes of Netawaka, KS, Barbara Osterhaus of Seneca, and Janice Jenkins of Paola, KS; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband “June” on December 25, 2004, her brothers, Benedict “Butch” on February 23, 2006, Daniel on November 1, 2003, and Terry on July 29, 2007, and her sister Peggy Osterhaus on October 7, 2007.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Monday, April 14, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Sunday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for the Sts. Peter & Paul School Building Fund, and sent in care of the family.
