Clara M. Sextro

Seneca, KS

Clara M. Sextro, 81, of Seneca, KS, formerly of Overland Park, KS, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Country View Estates care home in Seneca. She had fibrosis of the lungs. She had been a resident of the care home since October of 1998.

She was born December 12, 1918, the daughter of John and Rose Hohe Reinecke on a farm southeast of Baileyville. She attended Sacred Heart School in Baileyville and helped on the family farm.

Following high school, she moved to Kansas City where she worked for St. Margaret’s Hospital from 1936 to 1940. She later worked for the Civil Service Administration in Kansas City.

On February 7, 1946, she married Leander Sextro in Astoria, OR. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1990. They lived most of their lives in Overland Park, KS. She was was employed by the Shawnee Mission School District from 1967 to 1980 and for two years at the Shawnee Mission Hospital.

She was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Overland Park.

Survivors are three sons, Ronald Sextro of Cleveland, OH, Gary Sextro of Frisco, TX, and Ralph Sextro of Olathe, KS; two brothers, Frank and Clarence “Mike” Reinecke, both of Seneca; four sisters, Sr. Theophane Reinecke O.S.B. of Atchison, Helen Stallbaumer, Rita Holthaus (her twin sister), and Rose Ann Nordhus, all of Seneca; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for Sacred Heart Church or Sacred Heart Cemetery.
