07/07/1954 - 01/15/2026
Rose Marie Mueting, 71, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother of Seneca Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026.
Rose was born on July 7, 1954 in Seneca, Kansas a daughter to the late Urban & Charlotte (Sperfslage) Deters. She graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1972 before entering the workforce.
Rose met the love of her life, Jerry Mueting at a local wedding dance in 1977. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were joined in marriage on Sept 2, 1978 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, Kansas. Two sons, Brent and Brad, were born from this union. Together Jerry & Rose made their home on a farm south of Seneca where they raised their family. Rose was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society.
Rose was an Administrative Professional most of her life. She worked for Seneca Wholesale, Seneca Cable TV, Seneca Ready Mix and Nemaha Central School. During this time, Rose also managed the books for the farm.
Everyone who knew Rose knew how much she loved to sew. There was never a project she wasn’t willing to attempt. She was an avid collector of postage stamps and enjoyed each unique one she would find. Her favorite thing each year was hosting the 4th of July Celebration at the family farm. She loved welcoming the extended family each year and made sure they had plenty to eat and great entertainment.
Rose will always be remembered for being a fierce card player, always stylish and a closet full of accessories. She was known to bring the best gifts in the annual Christmas gift exchange. She enjoyed being outside, long walks in the country, and loved to keep her landscaping in the best condition. Jerry made sure she had a bountiful garden so she could spend those summer months canning and preserving as much of the produce to enjoy.
Becoming a grandmother to Allie Rose Mueting (Brent & Amanda) was one of her proudest moments. She loved spending time with Allie and playing tricks on her to the very end.
She is survived by her brothers Richard Deters of Havensville, Rene & James Deters both of Sabetha, Nicholas (Mary) Deters of Baileyville, Kevin (Ann) Deters of Seneca, Jean (Rose Mary) Deters of Sabetha and Ervin (Amy) Deters of Fairview.
