Clarence H. Dressman

Seneca, Kansas

Clarence H. Dressman, 64, of Seneca, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 1998, at the Summerfield, Kansas nursing home.

He was born June 24, 1933, at Axtell, the son of Joseph H. and Helen A. (Heiman) Dressman.  He was reared on a farm southwest of Baileyville and attended Sacred Heart School in Baileyville.

Mr. Dressman farmed southwest of Baileyville and later purchased a farm near Red Cloud, Nebraska, where he raised cattle and hogs.  He retired in 1989.  He served in the Army as a military policeman from 1956 to 1958 and he received a letter of accommodation for his performance of duties.

Clarence was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca, The St. Joseph Society at the church and a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Red Cloud, Nebraska, were he served as an usher and in the church committee.  He also was a member of Post No. 21 of the American Legion in Seneca.

He was married to Marceil E. Stallbaumer on April 23, 1960, at St. Benedict Catholic Church.  Along with Marceil, other survivors include a son, Steven Dressman (Teresa) Superior, Nebraska; two daughters, Lora (Jim) Ballard, Omaha, Nebraska and Diane (Jason) Bauer, Lincoln, Nebraska.  He had four grandchildren:  Zachary and Claire Dressman, Adam and Rachel Ballard.  Clarence is survived by five brothers:  Erwin (Nancy) Dressman, Goodland, Kansas; Edwin (Mary Ann) Dressman, Franklin, Kansas; Alvin Dressman and Dallas (Henrietta) Dressman both of Baileyville, Kansas; a sister Glenda (Harold) Bruna, Hanover, Kansas.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Helen Dressman, two infant sisters Mary Agnes and Bernarda Dressman and by an infant daughter, Helen on July 16, 1963.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 24 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.  Burial will be at the church cemetery.  A rosary will be recited Friday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Village in Summerfield and sent in care of the family.
