Kenny Lindeen

Topeka, Kansas

Kenneth Lee Lindeen, 68, of Topeka, formerly of Seneca, tragically lost his life on Thursday, November 17, 2022, in a house fire in Topeka.

Ken was born to Carl Marshall Lindeen and Mary Jean (Adams) Lindeen and was raised in Seneca, Kansas.

He graduated from Seneca Public High School in 1972. He was an active member of the Methodist church and participated in UMYF. In school he participated theater, and played the Tuba in band. Ken was an artist and enjoyed all mediums including drawing, painting, photography, video, audio and video production, music, and jewelry making.

He graduated with a commercial art degree from NEKA vocational school in Atchison, KS in 1975, after graduating he furthered his studies at Washburn University in Topeka Kansas pursuing advertising design, computer design and television production, from 1978-1985. In 1986 he completed an expansive course in film and video production from the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City Missouri.

After graduating from vocational school, he worked for a private artist and then in January 1976 he joined Volume Shoe Corp. as a layout artist. In 1987 he was promoted to the prestigious title of creative manager where he managed the entire $4.5 million dollar print advertising budget for Payless Shoe Source and reported directly to the President and V.P. Any print advertising from 1985-1995 for Payless he would have had a direct hand in as he managed the in-house graphic design and copy writing departments, as well as directed professional photographers in many major metropolitan cities, directing table top and life style photography. From 1996 to 1998 he was the manager of graphic services where he managed Payless’s in-house print advertising including all the complexities of prepress. In 1999 as a C.A.D. Operator he designed shoes by rendering computer generated illustrations of desired products for manufacturing prototypes which were sent directly to manufacturing factories.

After his 20+ years ‘career with Payless, he pursued a position of philanthropic nature that was near and dear to his heart when he joined Valleo where he acted as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor, and provided much needed care and support to a sensitive population.

Ken is described by his family and friends as being incredibly giving, loving, kind hearted and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Kenny was preceded in death by his son Andrew G. Lindeen on July 29, 2001, his father Carl on June 26, 1991.

He is dearly missed by his loving mother, Mary Lindeen; his son, Brett Lindeen; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Richard Hedge; his brother and sister-in-law, Marshall and Lura Lindeen; his sister and brother-in-law, Carla Lindeen and Rick Davis; and many more friends and relatives.
