Dallas J. Dressman

Baileyville, Kansas

Dallas J. Dressman, 84, of Baileyville entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 11, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on July 29, 1936 in Baileyville, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Helen (Heiman) Dressman. This is where he grew to love the outdoors and farming. He attended Sacred Heart School in Baileyville. After graduating high school Dallas entered the Army from 1959 until receiving an honorable discharge 1961, serving time in Germany. While serving his country he received a Good Conduct Medal and an Army of Occupation Medal.

He was united in marriage to Henrietta Haverkamp on May 3, 1962 at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict, Kansas. This union blessed them with six boys. Together they ran a dairy and row crop farm in Baileyville until retiring in 2014.

Dallas enjoyed farming, fish fries, tinkering with equipment, playing cards, country music and spending time with his family. Dallas didn’t know a stranger and would enjoy talking to people he met or friends he would see on a trip into town. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed helping with the annual events.

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta of Baileyville; his sons and their wives, David & Deb of Alta Vista, Rob & Jolene of Topeka, Delaine & Marcia of Godfey, Illinois, Brad & Susan of Marysville, Mike & Maria of Carbondale and Dan Dressman of Baileyville. They have ten grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Glenda; and brothers, Erwin, Clarence, Alvin, Edwin and Lester.

The rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Friday, August 14th at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM on Saturday, August 15, at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Church cemetery, with military honor guard.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Knights of Columbus or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Rosary 7PM on Friday, August 14th at Lauer Funeral Home.
