Gavan Marshall Bergman, beloved son of Brian and Amy Bergman, passed away June 16, 2026.

Gavan was born in Sabetha on December 30, 2003, and he was the youngest of his family. Gavan was baptized, received his First Holy Communion, and was confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha.

Gavan attended Sabetha elementary, middle, and high schools graduating in the class of 2022. Gavan was a bright and intelligent young man always earning a 4.0 GPA, and he was a member of the National Honor Society. Gavan played percussion in the band all of the way through high school, and he acted in roles in school plays & musicals where he developed wonderful friendships.

Gavan always adored his family pets giving them special attention. Gavan’s other interests included outdoor activities such as running, biking, water skiing, and snow skiing with a fearless resolve. Gavan had an amazing talent for roller skating which he learned at a young age as he frequented the Sycamore Springs roller rink with regular trips that he often shared with his mother.

After high school, Gavan attended Washburn University and graduated in May of 2026 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in accounting. He earned numerous academic honors due to his commitment to excellence, and he was a Summa Cum Laude member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society receiving Presidential honors every semester. Gavan also excelled in the robotic automation and business administrative positions that he had been employed in as time allowed while he attended college.

Gavan was a wonderful friend to many. He was humble, kind, thoughtful, and had a compassionate heart. These qualities, along with his love for family, made him the best son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin that he could possibly be.

Gavan is survived by loving parents Brian and Amy Bergman, brother Cullen Bergman, sister Khalea Goodman (Brett), grandfather Timothy Wenger (Deb), grandmother Debra Jenkins (Marvin), and great grandfather Ernest McClain Jr. (Lois) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Gavan was preceded in death by grandparents Wilfred and Rosella Bergman from St. Benedict, KS.

A beautiful Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Gavan by Fr. Sudeep Kodigandla and Fr. Reginald Saldanha at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, KS on June 24, 2026. Burial was in the church cemetery surrounded by his forever loving family.
