Daniel Eugene Koch

Daniel E. Koch, age 79, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away April 11, 2026.

Danny was born on November 21, 1946 in Seneca, KS to Firmin and Cynthia (Feldkamp) Koch.  He has lived in the Kansas City area since 1965.  He had been Assistant Warehouse Manager for Kraft Foods for 20 years before retiring in 1998.  After that he worked for the U.S. Post Office for 3 years.

Danny graduated from Baileyville High School in Baileyville, KS in 1964. He joined the Reserves in April 1964, transferred to the National Guard in 1965 and was

activated to regular service in May 1968 December, 1969, spending the last seven months in Korea on the DMZ with the rank of E-5.  Danny was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Later in life, Danny became an avid league bowler. Bowling daily until he was physically  unable. Through bowling, he met his good friend Janice Moore, who provided him with friendship and companionship for the remainder of his life.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Firmin and Cynthia and his three brothers, Galen, Marvin and Cletus.

Danny is survived by sisters, Dorothy Kramer, Betty Ann Dalinghaus (Rick Weber), Elaine Mock, and Arlene Cafarelli (James); children, Tammy (David) West and Terry “Scotty” (Natalie); grandchildren, Jaileen West and Sarah West, Tyler (Sara) Koch and Bryce Koch.

Danny married Vivian “Kathy” Thomas in 1967 and divorced in 1995. Danny married Anne Mitchell in 2005 and divorced in 2021.

Funeral Services will be held at Lauer Funeral Home, 212 S. 4th Street, Seneca, Kansas 66538 on

May 2, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with the Rosary beginning at 10:30 am followed by a prayer service with Fr. Jim Shaughnessy. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggestions donations be made to the American Kidney Fund, Transplant Institute of Research Medical Center of Kansas City, VFW, American Legion Post 61, Sacred Heart catholic Cemetery Fund, or your favorite charity in Danny’s honor.

    Classmate Betty and Koch family. Condolences on the passing of Danny. I remember him from high school. Cool duck tail–he had the hair!– and easy personality. Go in peace.
