Gail A. Perdue

Seneca, Kansas

04/15/1951 - 05/14/2026

Gail A. Perdue, 75, of Seneca, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
Gail was born on April 15, 1951, in Fort Riley, Kansas, the daughter of Keith and Patricia DeVore Perkins. In her younger years, Gail spent a short time living in Seattle, Washington, before her family eventually returned to Kansas, where she attended school in Atchison and graduated from Atchison High School in 1968. The friendships and memories she made there remained special to her throughout her life.
In 1969, Gail was united in marriage to John Goodpasture Sr. at St. Joseph Church in Atchison. To this union, a son, John Goodpasture Jr., was born. Although the couple later divorced, Gail’s greatest joy was becoming a mother. She later moved to Lansing, Kansas, where she lovingly cared for her mother while working as a bookkeeper, always willing to put the needs of family before her own.
In 1970, Gail met James Jackson, and the two were married that same year. To this union, her daughter, Deborah, was born. Gail embraced motherhood wholeheartedly and devoted herself to creating a loving home for her children. Later, she began working at Stokely Van Camp in Lawrence, where she served as a supervisor and safety compliance inspector. Gail was known as a dependable and hardworking employee who took pride in making sure every detail was done correctly.
Throughout her life, Gail’s journey took her to many places, including Eudora, Kansas, and Aspen, Colorado. While living in Aspen, she worked at a grocery store before later taking a position at a jewelry store, where her friendly personality and warm smile made her a natural at helping customers. In 1989, she returned to Atchison and worked for several local businesses over the years. In 2008, Gail moved to Centralia to be closer to her daughter Debbie, and in 2009, they settled in Seneca, where she continued to enjoy the quiet comforts of small-town life.
Gail found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved fishing trips, camping adventures, evenings spent playing bingo or cards, and getting lost in a good book while classic rock music played in the background. She had a caring spirit, a quick wit, and an appreciation for the little moments that made life meaningful. Whether sharing stories around a campfire, enjoying laughter with friends and family, or simply relaxing with music and a novel, Gail treasured the time she spent with those she loved most.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael Perkins; and her sisters, Betty Bromley and Joyce Hazel.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, John Goodpasture Jr. of El Dorado, Kansas; her daughter, Deborah Braden; her beloved grandsons and granddaughters; her sister, Theresa Payne; along with extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the family and will be designated at a later date.
