E. Wichman
Grace E. Wichman, 86, of Seneca, KS, died Thursday, April 20, 2006,
at her home.
She was born January 14, 1920, in Bigelow, MO, the daughter of Fred
and Christine Dix Honeyman. The family moved to the Fidelity area, where
she grew up and attended St. Augustine Catholic School. After school
she worked at several places in Seneca.
On November 18, 1943, she married
Charles Wichman at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They farmed
south of Seneca. Grace also worked at the Dutch Mill, the Sweet Shop,
and Farrell’s Variety Store.
In July of 1970, they moved to the Nemaha
County Farm west of Seneca, where they farmed and maintained the Convalescent
Home. In 1976 the home was closed and they moved to Seneca. She worked
at CR Industries in Seneca until her retirement. Her husband, “Chuck,”
died August 4, 1981.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul
Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, and an active member of the quilting
group at the church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, and her
grandchildren.
Survivors are two sons, Kenny of Rossville
and Richard of Lawrence; two daughters, Glenda Jackson of Topeka and
Joan Lierz of Sabetha; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded
in death by her parents, a brother, Cecil Honeyman, and two sisters,
Margaret Lehmkuhl and Estelle Meyer.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1 PM
Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be
in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 and 6 PM Sunday
at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for the Sts. Peter &
Paul quilting group, and sent in care of the family.
