
Marcelline M. "Susie" Tangeman
Marcelline M. "Susie" Tangeman, 76, of Corning, KS, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Onaga hospital.
Marcelline was born on July 26, 1931, the daughter of William and Margaret Stallbaumer Hutfles, on a farm west of Kelly. In 1949, she graduated from Kelly High School. After graduation, she moved to Council Bluffs, IA to assist at the parish of her uncle, Father Ernest Stallbaumer. While living in Council Bluffs (1953-1954), she also taught kindergarten.
On New Year’s Eve of 1954, she met her future husband, Victor Tangeman; they were married on August 24, 1955, at St. Bede’s Church in Kelly. The couple raised their family on a farm north of Corning, on US Highway 63. After her years as dedicated mother, she went to work in 1980 at the Nemaha County Courthouse in the District Court Office. She retired from the Courthouse in 2005 after 25 years of service.
Marcelline was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish, the Altar Society, and the Ladies Legion Auxiliary, all in Corning. She taught CCD through the St. Patrick's parish and was a volunteer with the Nemaha County Election Board.
Survivors include her husband, Victor, of their home north of Corning; her children, William Tangeman of Houston, TX, Coleen (and husband Dennis) Smith of Topeka, KS, Stephan (and wife Armella) Tangeman of Olathe, KS, John (and wife Joni) Tangeman of Sabetha, and Marc Tangeman of Gladstone, MO; siblings, Eldon Hutfles of Kahlotus, WA, Geraldine Hermesch of Anamosa, IA, Karel Hutfles of Pasco, WA, and Coletta Tinley of Chicago; and 5 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph, and a granddaughter, Emily Tangeman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Wednesday, January 30, at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Church Cemetery in Seneca. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 pm Tuesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials can be given to St. Patrick’s Church in Marcelline’s memory, and sent in care of the family.
