Clarence J. "Mike" Reinecke

Clarence J. “Mike” Reinecke, 84, Baileyville, died early Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Life Care Center of Seneca.
He was born on March 9, 1923 on the family homestead east of Baileyville, the son of John J. and Rose Hohe Reinecke. He attended the Baileyville School, graduating from the 8th grade and then attended for one year at St. Mary’s School in St. Benedict, KS.
He worked on the family farm until he eventually took over full operation when his father died. From 1964 to 1977 he did custodial work for the Baileyville School District 451. In 1968, he started painting homes in the area, retiring from that in 1989 after 21 years. Mike raised cattle and hogs on the farm and had several acres of row crops.
Mike loved to travel and share stories of his trips with family and friends over pizza. He also loved to play cards. He especially enjoyed children of all ages and could always find a piece of candy in his pockets to share with them. He entered the nursing home in 2000 and remained there until his death.
Survivors are his four sisters, Sr. Theophane Reinecke O.S.B. of Atchison, Helen Stallbaumer, Rita Holthaus, and Rose Ann Nordhus, all of Seneca.
He was preceded in death by a brother Frank J Reinecke on December 15, 2002, and a sister Clara M. Sextro on July 1, 2000.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M. Friday, April 27, at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 28, at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville, KS. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
