Rosalia A. Fangman

Rosalia A. Fangman, 79, of Seneca, Kansas, died Sunday evening, June 17, 2012, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

Rosie was born on December 2, 1932 on a farm east of Kelly the daughter of Herman and Anna Haverkamp Boeding. She attended St. Bede’s school in Kelly graduating from the 8th grade. After school she did domestic work for the area farm families, helping mothers with new born babies.

On May 26, 1951, she married Mark Fangman at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. The couple farmed and raised their family northeast of Seneca. They moved to Seneca in 1987. Rosie and Mark celebrated 58 years of marriage, before Mark preceded her in death on September 21, 2009.

After they moved into Seneca, Rosie went to work for Countryview care home (now Lifecare Center) in the laundry department for 10 years.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict.

Rosie was a very loving mother and was always giving of herself to help others. She volunteered at Crestview Manor care home and the Sts. Peter & Paul Mission Center, both in Seneca. She enjoyed visiting and playing cards, embroidery work and made quilts for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her five daughters, Judy (Bill Schmelzle) of Salina, Diane (Fred) Strunk of Shenandoah, Iowa, Mary Beth (Gerard) Steinlage of Corning, Alice (Joe) Sperfslage of Sabetha and Jane (Duane) Tanking of Seneca; four sons, Greg (Judy) Fangman and Steve Fangman, both of Seneca, Bob (Lisa) Fangman of Ottawa, and Joe (Laurie) Fangman of Cosby, Missouri; brothers, Wilbert and Francis Boeding, both of Seneca, and Lawrence Boeding of Gladstone, Missouri; a sister, Leona Olberding of Seneca; 34 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Fr. Damian Boeding; and sisters, Mary Kremer, Rita Brownsberger and Edna Steinlage.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Tuesday, June 19, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 20, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given in Rosie’s memory for Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery or Sts. Peter & Paul School, and sent in care of the family.
