Norma G. Becker Quinlan

Seneca, Kansas

08/30/1933 - 12/05/2022

Norma G. Becker Quinlan, 89, of Seneca, died on December 5, 2022, at Maples Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.

Norma was born on August 30, 1933, west of Seneca, to George and Josephine Lueb Becker. She grew up in the Seneca community and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, graduating in 1951.

At the age of 18, she went to work at Carmen Variety Store until 1955. On February 19, 1955, Wilfred and Norma Becker were married at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Seneca.

When Wilfred’s father died, the couple took over the Quinlan Vending Business and kept it going for 47 years.

Norma enjoyed cards, collecting coins, baking, cooking and traveling with Wilfred. Norma and Wilfred enjoyed traveling and attended live shows in Branson.  They loved to go on cruises and went on as many as 30. She was also an avid card player of bridge and pitch. Easter was her favorite holiday to spend with all of her nieces and nephews, she enjoyed preparing the dinner and the annual egg hunt. She was happy to go to all family gatherings and loved all the children.

She was a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Seneca Lions where she held all the officer positions and was a past President of the NVCH pitch and bridge club for over 35 years.  She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, the altar society and a member of the L.C.B.A.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred on October 19, 2013; her parents, George and Josephine; her brothers, Harold Becker and Loren Becker and sisters, Lucille Burdiek and Eunice Denton.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 A.M. prior to the Mass of Christian Burial.  The Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on December 8, 2022, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorial may be given to Sts. Peter and Paul School and sent to the school in her memory.

    I have known Norma for several years. Life events kept us bumping into each other over the years. I am unable to attend her services on Thursday, but would like to extend my sympathy to her family. She was a special lady……
