Louis Aloysius Reinecke

Seneca, Kansas

Louis A. Reinecke, 98, of Seneca, KS, died on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Life Care Center in Seneca.

He was born on November 27, 1921, on a farm south of Baileyville, to Aloysius and Anna Krogman Reinecke. He grew up in the Baileyville community, attended school in Baileyville and graduated from Baileyville High School in 1940. As a young man he helped on the family farm.

On April 8, 1947, he married Mildred E. Burdiek at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca; the couple celebrated 72 years of marriage. The couple lived and farmed north of Baileyville until1957, when the family moved to the Reinecke family homestead southeast of Baileyville. Lou and Mildred ran a dairy herd until 1991, where they raised hogs, cattle. In 1991, Lou and Mildred retired and built a new home in Seneca.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, where he had served on the money counters committee and did weekly adoration. Lou loved gardening, playing cards, fishing, going to the coffee shop in his later years, casino trips and being a lifelong farmer. He found joy and peace driving around looking at crops in the area. He always worked hard and was a quiet, well respected man.

Survivors are his wife, Mildred; three sons, Kenneth (Clara) Reinecke of Baileyville, Linus (Cheryl) Reinecke of Axtell and Galen (Sharon) Reinecke of Seneca; a sister, Angela Tangeman of Seneca; ten grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Lou was preceded in death by three children, Marilyn, Joseph and John; four brothers, Anthony, Fred, Carl and Eugene Reinecke; and six sisters, Josephine Altenhofen, Irene Haverkamp, Hilda Reinecke, Mary Ann Reinecke, Rose Reinecke, and Martha Stallbaumer.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM on Friday, February 7th at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart church cemetery in Baileyville.

Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter and Paul Church, and sent in care of the family.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.
