Lloyd A. Feldkamp

Seneca, KS

01/12/1927 - 05/28/2010

Lloyd A. Feldkamp, 83, of Seneca, KS, died Friday morning, May 28, 2010 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
He was born January 12, 1927, southwest of Seneca, the son of Fredrick and Dororthea (Olberding) Feldkamp. He attended Sherman country school and graduated from Baileyville Grade School.
On August 29, 1950 he married Rose Marie Becker at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. They lived south of Seneca until 1956, when they moved to Axtell; they returned to Seneca in 1995.
Lloyd was a farmer all his life, who served in the Navy during World War II and then in the Army during the Korean War. As a young man he helped build the old Seneca hospital; and with the help of his brother put in the first government pond in Nemaha County. He enjoyed playing cards, and was the type of grandfather who enjoyed teasing his grandchildren. Lloyd was a very particular man, who was still actively farming up until the end. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor. He took pleasure working on machinery, as he could fix almost anything. Lloyd was a man of his word and lived his life accordingly. He will be missed by family, neighbors and friends.
Lloyd was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Society, the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Earl W. Taylor Post #21 and the Knights of Columbus Council 1769, all in Seneca.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rose Marie ; six daughters, Donna (Robert) Stallbaumer of Seneca, Linda (Charles) Schreiner of Topeka, Terry (Glen) McNeil of Hays, Gayle (Robert) Meyer of Sabetha, Becky (Mark) Lierz of Baileyville and Kathy (David) Anstaett of Tecumseh; four sons, Larry (Andrea) Feldkamp of Manhattan, Randy (Mary) Feldkamp of Fairbury, NE, Fred (Maggie) Feldkamp of Axtell and Darin (Kim) Feldkamp of Topeka; a sister, Cynthia Koch of Seneca; brothers, Raymond Feldkamp of Manhattan and Elmer and Richard Feldkamp of Baileyville; 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kevin Feldkamp on February 27, 1986; his great-grandson, Aiden Meinhardt on May 2, 2009; a sister, Carmelita Koch; and brothers, Leander and Conrad Feldkamp.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Sunday, May 30, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with full military honors by the VFW and the Seneca American Legion.
Memorials may be given in Lloyd’s memory for the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital or the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
