Lisa Marie Stallbaumer

Seneca

05/16/1973 - 09/29/2022

Lisa Marie Stallbaumer, 49, of Seneca passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, surrounded by her family. The family is both devastated and shaken by her death.

Lisa was born on May 16, 1973 to Lowell and Lela (Tanking) Elder at the Seneca Hospital, she was the couple’s youngest child and their only daughter.  Lisa had four amazing brothers to look after her and also to torment her, as all good brothers do.  Lisa attended Seneca Grade School and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1991.  She attended Washburn University in Topeka and graduated in 1993 with her degree in Radiology Technology.  Lisa was employed by Nemaha Valley Community Hospital from 1993-2010, as a radiology technician.  She also held certifications in Sonography, Computer Tomography and Mammography

Lisa married Michael Stallbaumer on June 18, 1994 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. The two were kindred spirits and good friends, besides being a loving couple. They were blessed with seven remarkable children.  Anyone who knew Lisa knew that she loved being a mother, she simply loved spending time with her family. She shared that same love with her community and friends. Lisa was always wearing a heartfelt smile and she was always ready to visit, she was much like her father in that respect, she never knew a stranger.

In 2008, Lisa opened, owned and operated Everything Grows With Love Daycare, and she loved and cared for many many children over the past 14 plus years. Anyone that truly knew Lisa knew she had a big heart; she represented the good that we all need in our everyday lives.  She was always pushing forward no matter the situation, she was one of the select few who could rise to meet the challenge with a smile.

Lisa was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society. She was very involved with her children and 4-H, helping them achieve multiple blue and purple ribbons in various baking and sewing competitions. She baked a mean German Chocolate cake. She helped coach softball and made sure her kids arrived at their sporting activities, sometimes at the same time in different locations.

Lisa had a passion for creativity, which could be seen in her sewing and baking. Lisa was kind, she never hesitated to throw herself into a challenge to help others.  She was honest and genuine and never pretended to be anyone other than herself.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Lela on December 18, 2009 and Lowell on August 28, 2014; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and a miscarried daughter, Maria Hope Stallbaumer.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michael; their children, Michaela (Lucas) Schmelzle of Axtell, Shaylyn Stallbaumer of Seneca, Bryant Stallbaumer of Centralia, Jonathan Stallbaumer of Baileyville, Hillary, Maryssa and Blaise all of the home; a grandson, Jameson Schmelzle; and siblings, Lee (Geralyn) Elder of Wichita, Lynn (Gina) Elder of Salina, Larry (Karla) Elder of Topeka and Les (Dana) Elder of Chanhassen, MN.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Lisa will be held on Wednesday, October 5th at 11 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Rosaries will be prayed at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 4th at 2 & 7 PM.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be left for her Children’s Education.

I coached Lisa in volleyball. One day Lowell cornered me about all the bruises on her arms. This was during junior high volleyball. I served ball after ball after ball to Lisa trying to prepare her and our team to win. I served very hard at her. She never complained and got so she could serve receive well. In high school when she was on junior varsity we took our JV to the Centralia varsity tournament. We made it into the finals where we almost beat my wife’s team which went on to place second at state. I remember how excited she was at that tournment. The last time I talked to Lisa, I was sitting at a track meet in Frankfort by their equipment shed. She saw me and walked to where I was sitting talked to me for quite some time. She was so very proud of her kids and told me about their many successes especially in track throwing the javelin. We talked about her mom and dad and how special they were to Nemaha Valley High School. I spent many hours talking to Lowell when I was teaching in Seneca. My mother died very young at 48 years old. I was twenty-one and I remember how much it hurt to lose her. My heart goes out to Lisa’s family. She was such a happy person and I can see her big smile in my mind as I am writing this. There wouldn’t be the pain if there hadn’t been the joy. Lisa brought joy to many peoples’ lives! Remember the JOY she gave to us all!

Lisa and Stallbaumer family, our family loves you so much. I cannot tell you how many times you have been there for our family, and we tried to repay it, but I know we never will. You took us under your wing when we moved here, and were such a blessing to my boys, as well as my dear friend. We will always be here for your family. Your impact on others has no bounds. Your love for your husband, kids, or another child doesn’t either. I am so thankful for you, and may you always know how loved you are. Sam had a cross country practice today, and ran out to your gravesite to talk to you. He said, as usual, you gave perfect wisdom.

I’m sad to hear about Lisa’s passing. She was so good at caring for her parents, my parents, Lawrence and Lydia Potter, and Aunt Mary, besides her own family, over the years. Her love for children and family was inspiring. She will be missed. I’m sending prayers for deep comfort and support during this time for your family.

I’ve known Lisa for 20+ years and worked with her several years when she was a radiology tech. Lisa was so bright and did her job well as a tech. I have heard from many about how parents and kids loved her day care. As so many have mentioned, Lisa always had a ready smile and a twinkle in her eye. She could be funny, mischievous, and charming. She also had the ability to cry with you if you hurt. I will always be grateful for the time I got to spend with her at Regionals in Holton. I hadn’t seen her in years, yet it seemed as though we had never been apart. Even though I messed up the pages (stop laughing, Hillary 😊), Lisa was kind and never said a word. It has been an honor to get to know Hillary through choir and see so much of her mom in her. The last time I saw Lisa was during the Carol Burnett program put on by the Arts Foundation. She not only had 3 daughters participating, but also provided food and even taped the entire program. Anyone who knew Lisa knows how much she loved her husband Mike and her children. She advocated mightily for her children which didn’t always make her popular, but I know she would have done the same for anyone who needed her help. I know this is long, but I’m writing it as much for myself as for her loving family. I have prayed many prayers for God’s peace that passeth understanding. RIP my friend. 💗
