Larry Joseph Sudbeck

Bern, Kansas

Larry J. Sudbeck, 75, of Bern, Kansas, died on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Larry was born on August 4, 1944 to Ignatius “Nate” F. and Odelia E. Broxterman Sudbeck in Axtell. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from St. Benedict High School with the class of 1962.

Larry married RoseMary Ronnebaum on November 17, 1979 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning. The couple lived north of Seneca and raised four children.

Larry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. Larry loved farming, his crops and livestock were very important to him and gave him joy throughout his life. When not farming, he enjoyed a good card game, polka and 50’s music, working with horses and restoring his Father’s tractor. No matter how busy the farm kept him; he always took time for his grandchildren, they were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nate on October 17, 1992 and Odelia on May 4, 2013; and a grandchild, Jordan Sudbeck on February 14, 2013.

Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, RoseMary; children, Matt (Kim) Sudbeck of Bern, Christina (Josey) McFarlane of Osage City, Mark (Kristina) Sudbeck of Bern, and Kevin Sudbeck of Bern; siblings, Anita (Linus) Haverkamp of Wetmore, Marlene (Ferdinand) Deters of Seneca, Judy (Larry) Macke of Seneca, Carol Steinlage of Centralia, Linda (John) Heinen of Springhill, Eldon (Theresa) Sudbeck of Seneca and Joyce (Ron) Burdiek of Wetmore; and nine grandchildren, McKenna, Madison, Morgan, Moxie, Elijah, Zackery, Miles, Leo and Jameson.

Memorials are for Larry are to be designated at a later date.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.
