I loved Kenny Dalsing not only for his bowhunting skills but his willingness to share his skills in hunting deer. He was my mentor teaching me all that he knew to help a true novias. He was a great help in teaching all aspects of archery. I walked into the lumber yard in 1971 wanting material to build goose decoys. Kenny was behind the desk . He told me to forget about goose hunting and take up deer hunting with a BOW. I told him I didn’t own a bow but he was persistent and one day he took me out teaching me the sings in the woods. I will miss and have missed the visits Kenny and I had sense Mary passed away. some may say Kenny was a rankle to interact with but he and I didn’t seem to have any problems loving one another. I don’t know if he loved me cause I never remember he saying such but his actions said enough. Kenny was a great friend and I for one will miss him dearly. My sympathy to Kenny’s family of all ages.

Grateful for all of those heroes who fought for our freedom in WWII. Extend sympathy to the family of this hero. Did not know Kenny but was classmate of some Dalsings in Axtell. Must be related.

My sincere condolences to family and friends. I ran into Kenny when I was visiting our dad and he was visiting Mary 8 years ago at Crestview. For some reason I must have mentioned how dad was in the Navy during WWII because Kenny talked about his service in the Marines and how he saw the actual raising of the flag at Iwo Jima and then the second raising of the flag. Every student of history is familiar with the photograph that went with it. He expressed disappointment with the Navy that for years they passed it off as the initial one. It says above that he participated in action against the Japanese. That is putting it mildly because he told me that much of what he had to do was permanently blocked from his memory. It brings to mind the saying that as Americans we are standing on the shoulders of giants.

I was outside Seneca courthouse and Kenny did an interview with me. He told me all about his time in Iwo Jima. Kenny was 88 at the time. I had been back from Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Living in Seneca for several years and doing business with Kenny we never talked much about the military. We are both veterans as I have retired from the Air force and Air National Guard combo 21 years. I still have the interview on my computer if anyone would like to have it. I enjoyed having a laugh with Kenny and he will always have my respect. A great guy and great friend.

So sorry for your loss. I know that even though we are comforted that our parents were able to live a good long life, it is still difficult.
Take care and I hope to be able to see you again soon. David
