Karen A. Henry, 78, of Seneca, Kansas died on Monday, August 12, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, surrounded by her family.

Karen was born in Seneca on July 22, 1941 to Norbert “Nub” and Rosezella Luginbill Boeding. She attended school at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Seneca, graduating in 1959.

On August 1, 1959 Karen married the love of her life, Daniel Henry at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. While her kids were being raised, she was “a stay home mom” until 1988, when she went to work for the Shoe Center in Seneca retiring from there in 2013.

Karen loved to cook, bake, canning the fruits of her labor picked from her garden, attending auctions and garage sales, collecting antiques, growing flowers, dancing, going to horse races with Dan and attending the activities of her grandchildren. Her family was extremely important to her.

Karen was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca and St. Anne’s Altar Society all in Seneca, a member of QAF club.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dan of Seneca; her children, Mike (Rose Mary) Henry of Hoyt, Doug (Tracey) Henry of Waverly, Kansas, Rick (Joan) of Seneca, Lori (Mike) Hiltibrand of Seneca, Pat (Beth ) Henry of Ottawa, Illinois, Allen (Arlene) Henry of Seneca, Fred (Kim) Henry of Kelly and Jolene (Shawn) Hundley of Seneca; a brother Joe (Darlene) Boeding of Topeka; sisters, Donna (Frank) Maskil of Bonner Springs, Pat (Dan) Deters of Corning, Paula Fleury of Seneca, Joan (Rick) Clelland of Topeka and Marilyn (Tom) Nolte of Centralia; 26 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M., Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 P.M. Friday, August 16th at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

I met Mrs. Henry when I was a member of Doug and Tracey’s wedding party. She was a very kind gracious hostess. I also know from talking with Doug many times over the years he was my neighbor just how important family was to her. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through these coming days and always .
