JoAnn Huerter

Seneca, Kansas

09/16/1930 - 04/04/2021

Carolyn JoAnn Holthaus Huerter, 90, of Seneca, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2021, at Life Care Center in Seneca, KS.

JoAnn was born September 16, 1930 in Corning, KS.  She was the daughter of Albert C. and Irene E. Campmire Holthaus.  JoAnn grew up on a farm near Goff, KS and graduated from Goff High School in 1948.

JoAnn married William H. Huerter on October 16, 1947 at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly, KS.  The couple celebrated 70 years of marriage; living their entire lives in Nemaha County.    JoAnn owned and operated Huerter Office Supply on Main Street in Seneca.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the St. Ann Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Huerter on November 18, 2017; her parents; Albert and Irene Campmire Holthaus; and her brothers, Elton Holthaus, Farrell Holthaus and Donald Holthaus.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Arthur) Rangel of Topeka; her son, Bill J. (Kathy) Huerter of Marysville; three grandchildren, Cynthia (Steve) Priest of Kansas City, Michael (Autumn) Huerter of Wichita and Sarah (Kale) Wann of Hays; two great grandchildren, Joel Priest and Knoxley Wann; a sister, Mary Pat Cunningham of Kansas City; and a brother, Jerry (Myrna) Holthaus of Great Bend, Kansas.

A rosary will be prayed at the Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca on Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM; prior to the funeral Mass. The Mass of Christian Burial is on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 10 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Seneca. Draping of the pall will done by her children.

JoAnn will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bill, in the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Seneca, KS.

Memorials for JoAnn will be designated at a later date, and may be sent in care of the family.
