01/21/1929 - 07/17/2020

Frances M. Kramer, 91, of Seneca, Kansas passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital.

She was born on January 21, 1929 to Frank and Mary Blocker Stegeman, both her parents died when she was only weeks old. She and her two sisters went to live with her Uncle and Aunt, John and Mary Blocker.   She attended Saint Benedict School, and graduated from High School in 1946. Growing up she helped at the Blocker Hardware Store. As a young woman she worked at the National Bank in Seneca.

She married August F. Huninghake Jr. in 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. The couple had four young children at the time of August’s death – Jane, Robert, Debbie and Lori. August died on October 23, 1961, at the age of 39. Frances married Nobert A. Kramer on December 27, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. To this union one son was born, Kevin. The couple ran a dairy together for many years near Baileyville. In addition, Frances worked for St. Mary’s School District 74 with the hot lunch program. She also was employed by Jimmco and Daylight Donuts.

Throughout her life she volunteered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, which she was a life-long member. Her young family cleaned the church for many years; and Frances played the pipe organ until her health did not allow her to do so. Frances always raised a large garden; canned and raised chickens. After Norbert’s death on July 16, 1993, she moved to St. Benedict. On December 28, 2016 she made Crestview Nursing & Residential Living her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle who raised her; both her husbands; her son, Robert Huninghake; and siblings, Mary Catherine Ornelas, Evelyn Kramer, Gilbert Stegeman, Lorena Stegeman and Amelia Stegeman.

Frances is survived by daughters, Jane and Jim Strathman, Debbie and Tom Stallbaumer both of Seneca and Lori Huninghake of Bern; a son, Kevin Kramer of Topeka; her sister, Juanita Koelzer of Othello, Washington; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Sorry to hear about your mother being called to heaven ! Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time! I was thinking about coming up to the services but with all the covid 19 I think I will stay home , but wish I could be there. I will watch if it is live streamed. As a child I always thought she was a great lady!!!
