Eileen M. Koelzer

Baileyville, KS

Eileen M. Koelzer, 80, of Baileyville, died on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Life Care Center of Seneca.

She was born on August 20, 1935, on a dairy farm north of Baileyville, to Allie J. and Irene J. Hammes Koelzer. Eileen also helped take care of her folks in their later years and babysat for many of her nieces and nephews throughout the years. She grew up in the Baileyville community and attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from the 8th Grade. She was employed by the Baileyville School District as a cook for the 46 years. After her retirement, she went to work part time for Roeder’s Huddle Restaurant in Seneca.

Eileen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville and the Altar Society; she was a volunteer at the Sts. Peter and Paul Mission. She enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, cooking, making pies, baking cinnamon rolls and her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Koelzer on May 6, 1947 and Elmer on July 1, 2011; and four sisters, Mildred Stallbaumer on August 31, 2006, Evelyn Heiman on December 22, 2001, Leona Bergman on July 12, 2015 and Marceil Haverkamp on March 18, 1998.

She is survived by brothers, Regis Koelzer of Axtell and Gilbert Koelzer of Baileyville; sisters, LaVerne Uphaus of Topeka and Audrey Mueting of Seneca; and many nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be prayed on Monday, July 4th at 2PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30AM on Tuesday, July 5th at Sacred Heart’s Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial in the church cemetery.

Memorials will be designated later, and sent in care of the family.
