Clarence Schultejans

Seneca, KS

Clarence H. Schultejans, 79, of Seneca, Kansas, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Veterans’ Eastern Kansas Health Care Hospital in Topeka.

He was born July 4, 1934, on a farm south of Kelly, Kansas, to Bernard and Caroline Klunenberg Schultejans. He attended St. Bede’s School in Kelly. He worked on the family farm and helped his Dad in the trucking business.

He joined the United States Army on November 15, 1955 and was discharged on August 26, 1957

On April 27, 1963, he married Billie Womack at Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka. She survives of the home. The coupled lived and farmed South of Kelly, where Clarence was a farmer and a stockman. In later years, he continued to help his son on the farm. He also worked for Koch and Company and for the Nemaha County Coop. Clarence retired in 2000; and in 2002 they moved in to Seneca.

Clarence had many hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hunting, gardening, listening to polka music and watch wrestling on television.

He was a member of St. Bede’s Church in Kelly, the St. Joseph Society at the church, and he served on the Parish Council. He was on the board for St. Benedict Mutual.

Besides his wife Billie, he is survived by his children, Mike (Jennifer) Schultejans of Silver Lake, Kansas, Teresa (Mark) Kolterman of Onaga, Janet (Steven) Blair of Topeka, and Tom (Mary Kay) Schultejans of Kelly; a sister, Anna Hasenkamp of Topeka; a sister in law, Eleanor Schultejans of Anamosa, Iowa; 7 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

He was preceded in death a daughter, Mary Kay in 1967; by four brothers, Bernard in 1944 (in World War II), Edwin in 1972, Albert in July 22, 1977 and Ted on November 14, 2000; and two sisters, Mary C. Schultejans on May 30, 1931 and Bernadine Wessel on August 8, 2010.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 1st at St. Bede’s Church in Kelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Monday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for Disabled Veterans Association or St. Bede’s Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
