Clarence E. Maelzer

Seneca, Kansas

Clarence E. Maelzer, 81, of Seneca, Kansas, died Monday, June 9, 1986 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Clarence Edwin Maelzer was born on May 25, 1905 near Wilsey, Kansas.

On September 14, 1928 he married Margaret C. Fraser in Altoona, Kansas. They lived in the Centralia area for 12 years and then moved to a farm five miles south of Sabetha. Clarence and Margaret retired and moved to Seneca in 1966.

Clarence was an active member of the Congregational Churches in both Seneca and Sabetha. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #39 AF&AM for many years. Other memberships included the Nemaha County Historical Society. He also served on numerous county and township boards over the years. His special talent was woodworking. He created many woodworking projects both for their own home, and for others.

Survivors are his wife Margaret; two daughters, Neva Funderburgh of Santa Barbara, California and Shirley A. Scott of Denver; four grandchildren and two great-granchildren.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 12, at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Seneca, officiated by Rev. David Logue. Burial was in Centralia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rex Molineux, Bill Sausser, Ralph Lohmann, Everett Murphy, Chester Milne and Robert Ackerman.
