Cathy J. (Palmer) Cannon

Goff, Kansas

Cathy Jolene Cannon, 61, of Goff, Kansas died at her home after a long battle of cancer on February 25, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Cathy was born on May 26, 1958 in Topeka Kansas to Bernard D. and Joan M. (Enneking) Palmer. Cathy grew up in Seneca, attended Seneca Public grade school and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1976. When she finished high school, she worked in the Nursing Home Health Industry, working at Crestview Manor and Sabetha Manor. She also was employed at Sac and Fox.

Cathy and Carl D. Cannon were married in Hiawatha, Kansas on May 28, 2007. He survives of the home. She and Carl resided in Goff, Kansas where she served on City Council before becoming Mayor in 2017. Cathy owned and worked in her little general store prior to becoming ill. She loved working in the store and visiting with the local folks and meeting new friends. She was also very active with the Goff food pantry and PRIDE. Cathy dedicated her life to her family, friends and helping others.

She is preceded in death a son, Bernard Harley Palmer on August 28, 1982; by her father, Bernard D. on March 21, 1966; and her mother Joan M. on July 22, 2007.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carl Cannon and their children Baron Large (Heather) of Goff, Jeremy Large (Rachel) of Sabetha, Andy Palmer (Kristen) of Topeka, Joey Large (Kaci) of Sabetha, Brian Cannon (Savannah) of Council Grove, Melissa Huntsman of Columbus, Ohio, Brandi Stubbs of Columbus, Ohio, and Staci Bernard (Travis) of Beatrice, Nebraska. She is also survived by one sister, Jodi Lynn) Brashwitz of Cleveland, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Sunday, March 1, 202020 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at a later date.

    Oh, Cathy, I’m so sorry we never got a chance to renew our clos friendship again. I will always remember you as kind, gracious, and FUNNY! We commiserated about being the Moms of a tribe of boys. I will remember so many things you said and did. My friend, I will never forget you.
